Safeguarding teams across the country are sharing a video to help educate people about child sexual exploitation.
Kayleigh’s Love Story is a film Leicestershire Police made about the case of 15-year-old schoolgirl Kayleigh Haywood. Kayleigh was groomed online in November 2015 and 13 days later was raped and murdered by her groomer’s next door neighbour.
Teams involved with tackling safeguarding issues, including police and the Engage team in Blackburn and Darwen, are helping to circulate the video so young people are made more aware of staying safe online.
The film has also been shown to all secondary schoolchildren aged 11 and above in Lancashire. To date, Lancashire police has shown the film to more than 35,000 children in groups of no more than 30 at a time.
The full version of the film, along with a signed version, an audio-described version and versions of the film translated into five languages – Polish, Hindi, Guajarati, Urdu and Punjabi – will be available to the public on Leicestershire Police’s YouTube channel
Any concerns or queries can be reported to the Engage Team on (01254) 353 525.
