The writings on the floor at Davyfield with new road markings to say thank you to front line Council staff for the important work they do across the Borough.
Davyfield is the Council depot where all the refuse collectors, highways workers, mechanics and public protection teams are based. With almost 300 staff coming and going every day when the office based staff are there as well, it’s a lively staff hub.
Entering the depot is about to get more interesting with a special thank you image to be printed on the floor for all Davyfield staff, linking to wider wellbeing activities.
Council staff at Davyfield are often in offline, wide-ranging roles, out and about most of the day. Due to the pandemic these teams have been working in small bubbles with limited access to buildings, so this thank you installation is an alternative, accessible way, to show recognition for the work they do in the BwD community.
BwD’s executive member for environmental services, Cllr Jim Smith said: “We are so proud of our frontline staff for the way they have gotten on with the job within all the covid restrictions during the pandemic. This is our way to show how valuable they are to the community, in the community.”
BwD’s executive member for wellbeing, Cllr Damian Talbot said: “Gratitude is proven to improve our wellbeing, and whether you’re giving or receiving a thank you, it gives you a boost. With the stress felt by everyone during this difficult year still weighing heavily on our communities, this is one way for us to show gratitude to front line workers at the Council.”
