An official ribbon-cutting ceremony opened a new pop-up charity shop run by Lancashire Mind at The Mall in Blackburn.
Councillor Mohammed Khan, leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, officially announced the shop open by cutting the red ribbon, and took some time to browse the goods.
Lancashire Mind is the Mall’s chosen charity of the year. As well as clothes, the shop, at 2 Market Way in The Mall, near the Sports Direct entrance, sells books, cards, toys and household goods, and is open for six weeks, until October 28th.
Lancashire Mind is a mental health charity which offers many different types of support to people who are experiencing mental health conditions, including counselling, programmes and courses.
Councillor Khan said:
I have been a supporter of Lancashire Mind for some time and the work they do in helping people with mental health issues is very important.
I am really glad that this shop has opened up and I hope people will visit, take a look and support the charity and its aims. Anyone who has the time to volunteer would be very welcome too.
Volunteers are needed at the shop, which could be open until next year if business goes well. Hours are available all week and full training will be given.
Anyone who would like to volunteer at the shop can pop into the shop or contact Jenny on (01257) 231660 or at admin@lancashiremind.org.uk.
