Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Executive Board has agreed to a small rise in car parking charges.
Parking tariffs in Blackburn Town Centre have not been increased since April 1st, 2011.
The new charges will see a 20p increase on all tariffs in the town centre from Monday to Saturday.
A decision was also made to introduce car parking charges on Sundays. This will be a charge of £1 for up to three hours and £2 for all day parking.
Councillor Phil Riley, Executive Member for Regeneration, said:
It has been seven years since we had any rise in car parking charges in the borough. Given the length of time since charges were increased and the changes and improvements to the town centre, it has been decided that a small rise will be brought in and a charge introduced for Sunday parking.”
New signage will be placed in car parks advertising the new charges.
