A dozen homes will be built on land at Tower View off Marsh House Lane

The homes will be built on the site  as well as a number of adjacent garage plots.

The Council has appointed a local company to as preferred developer following a tender process. The business is already active in the borough with a site at Crossfield Street in Blackburn, and will be submitting a detailed planning application in early summer with an expected start on site in late 2018.

The site is adjacent to the new Ellison Fold highway construction works, which will see new developments throughout Darwen to boost housing and improve connections.

The road is set to be completed at the end of 2018.

Councillor Phil Riley, the Council’s Executive member for Regeneration, said:

We are absolutely delighted that a local small developer has taken the opportunity to invest to build 12 houses that will add to the new developments available for local people.

We will be keeping with the look of the existing homes and environment and think this will be a great addition to the area and good use of land which has stood empty and disused for many years.”
