Blackburn Foodbank is set to hold an event to mark the opening of their new premises.
Taking place on Saturday, 7 March at 10am, the ‘Act of Dedication’ celebrates the Foodbank’s move from its Brunswick Street base to its new home on Oakenhurst Road.
Just off the bottom of Montague Street, the event at the new larger premises will allow a look around the building.
On the day the Foodbank will also be holding a collection specifically for tins of meat and fish.
As part of their move to new, larger premises, Blackburn Foodbank have asked for help in buying new chairs.
Lomas office furniture kindly offered some chairs at cost, and the foodbank has asked for groups or individuals who might be able to help by funding the purchase of one.
Costing £33 each, the chairs come in either green or pink.
If you or a group would like to fund one of these chairs, you can contact Lomas office furniture directly on 01254 690600 and ask to purchase a ‘foodbank’ chair or alternatively you can contact the foodbank office on 01254 672756 with your details and they can order one on your behalf.
Cllr Phil Riley, a trustee of Blackburn Foodbank said:
The new premises will really help Blackburn Foodbank expand its ability to help those people in the borough who are going hungry, and any way that residents can get involved, whether by donating food, helping the foodbank buy new chairs or through volunteering at the foodbank will make a positive difference to a lot of people’s lives.
