A document describing the current provision of community pharmacy services across Blackburn with Darwen has been signed off at the latest meeting of the borough’s Health and Wellbeing Board.
The Pharmacy Needs Assessment looks at the current shape of pharmacy services alongside the needs of the local population and enables health professionals to commission pharmaceutical services that are based on those local priorities.
The PNA includes information on existing local services including smoking and sexual health, identifies potential gaps in provision and looks at the future needs of local residents to help shape on-going services.
Responsibility for publishing and updating PNAs passed to Health and Wellbeing Boards on April 1 2013, with a requirement to update and publish the new document by April 2015.
