Blackburn with Darwen Council Planning and Highways Committee gave planning permission to a multi-million state of the art care home in Blackburn yesterday.

Reaction to this exciting news from Community Integrated Care.

Councillor Mohammed Khan, Executive Member for Health and Adult Social Care said

This is exactly the kind of facility we need in this borough. I am delighted to see the progress of this important development. Our older people deserve  the highest  quality services. It will provide excellent dementia care and I am especially pleased to hear about the innovative model C.I.C are proposing including the plans to deliver home care outreach via the community, helping residents to live independently in own homes as long as possible.

I am very pleased to see it has been given planning permission and I am personally very excited about it. We like to see this as the first of a number of exciting new developmentsfor older people in the Borough. We are looking forward to welcoming more.”

Councilor Maureen Bateson, Executive Member for Regeneration and also an Ewood ward councillor said

As the Executive Member for Regeneration, I believe it is important the borough pulls in such large scale investment which creates jobs for the area.Speaking as a ward member, this is important news for the community and it will continue the regeneration of the Infirmary.

I will be making sure local residents are involved in helping shape the memorial garden into an asset for the local community and residents of the care home. It is important the garden serves as a reminder of why the memorial wing was built in the first place and commemorates the sacrifices made in the First World War.”
