Extra bus routes have been added to reinstate journeys following the withdrawal of routes previously operated by Darwen Coach Services.
From Monday, January 30, Travel Assist will operate a number of services around Darwen, including Bold Venture, Birch Hall, Sunnyhurst, Knowlesley Road and Spring Vale.
Moving People will take on the 33 service, Darwen – Blackburn via Hoddlesden, Pot House, Lower Darwen and Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Some of the Darwen local services will only operate certain days of the week with a view to them being extended later depending on usage. Passengers are urged to please check the day code on the timetable for days of operation.
The Travel Assist TA services are local registered bus services (not Ring & Ride), and NoWCARDs are accepted on these routes.
After Darwen Coach Services ceased trading on December 15 last year, Blackburn with Darwen Council took action to make sure that statutory school routes were maintained and began discussions with local bus companies about re-registering local bus routes previously withdrawn.
Timetables have been published and are available at the Blackburn Visitor Centre, Darwen Town Hall and Blackburn Bus Station.
