Councillor Jacquie Slater, the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, has shared a festive greeting to all residents of the borough.
In her video message, released on the Council’s social media channels today, the Mayor reflects on a busy festive season, attending many different community events and celebrations.

The Mayor commented:
It’s really highlighted to us how this time of year brings everyone together, from across our diverse communities, all sharing in the goodwill and positive spirit of the festive season.
On behalf of the Council, I would like to wish everyone in the borough a blessed and happy Christmas. To those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you enjoy some time with your loved ones.
The Mayor also uses her Christmas message to remind anyone who needs it that mental wellbeing support is available over the festive season.
The Mayor added:
While many people will be having fun this Christmas, there will be others for whom it isn’t such a joyful time. Whether that’s because of difficult relationships, bereavement, money worries or other concerns, if you’re finding the festive season difficult, you won’t be the only one.
I would encourage you to reach out for support – there is always help available to people who ask for it here in Blackburn with Darwen.
The Council’s Public Health team recently launched Get Help Now to show people how to get urgent support when life gets too much.
Bright orange Get Help Now stickers are on display in Blackburn and Darwen, in the windows of shops, cafes and community venues. The QR code on the stickers takes people to the Be Well BwD website with details of local and national support, with a particular focus on the support that’s available outside of office hours.
