The Mayor commented:

It’s been absolutely wonderful to see so much going on to mark this very special time of year, and to meet many people across our communities.

What has been really clear to us is the fantastic charitable spirit that we’re lucky to have so much of in Blackburn with Darwen, with many residents and local organisations using this time of year to do good and support other people.

The Mayor also uses his Christmas message to remind anyone who needs it that mental wellbeing support is available over the festive season.

The Mayor added:

Organisations like the Samaritans are open over the festive season, and the NHS 111 has trained mental health professionals ready to support people.

I would encourage everyone to look out for others and be aware that someone you know may be struggling while others are celebrating. Pick up the phone, pop round and see them, just let them know that you are there. Your contact could make all the difference to someone feeling low.
