Blackburn based football club, Mill Hill Juniors, is celebrating after securing a £4,000 donation.

The donation comes from Persimmon Homes Lancashire after the club applied for funding through the housebuilders Community Champions initiative.

The club welcomes players from ages 6 to 16 and currently has over 450 players across over 35 junior teams.

This new funding will be going towards the maintenance and improvement of the club’s pitches, ensuring they are in great condition for the season ahead.

Councillor Julie Gunn, Executive Member for Children, Young People & Education who also represents the Mill Hill and Moorgate Ward, added:

“It’s great to see Mill Hill Juniors benefit from the generous donation that Persimmon have made through their Community Champions funding. The club makes such a positive impact on the community and it’s good to see that recognised.”

Scott Hansekowitsch, Committee Member and Coach at Mill Hill Juniors, said:

“We’re so grateful to Persimmon Homes for this grant which will help us as we continue to maintain and improve our pitches for the kids who love playing here week in week out. It means they’ll have a safer, better place to learn, grow, and enjoy the game together.”

Gareth Stansfield, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said:

“With progress coming along nicely at our Blackburn based Willow Grove development, I am delighted we can continue leaving a positive local legacy with this donation. It was great to visit the club recently, and it is clear they have a hugely positive impact on the local community, I wish all involved the very best for the remainder of the season.”
