Blackburn with Darwen Council Leader, Cllr Mohammed Khan, has lent his support to the national celebration of carers taking place all this week:
Cllr Mohammed Khan, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:
Carers from within the Council and those from across our borough do an incredibly important job looking after some of the more vulnerable members of society.
Caring impacts on all aspects of life and their contribution to our communities is invaluable.
With the coronavirus pandemic creating such challenging circumstances this year, many more people will have been required to take on responsibility for the care of older, disabled or seriously ill relatives or friends.
They have risen to challenge and showed the kindness of spirit synonymous with the people of our borough.
It’s vitally important that we take this week to recognise the contribution that all of our carers make to our local communities and continue to support them as much as we can.
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of care givers.
In Blackburn with Darwen, the Carers Service offers assistance to those supporting loved ones with illnesses or disabilities.
The service exists to provide a ‘one stop’ carers centre that offers support, information and advice to all unpaid carers within Blackburn with Darwen.
Blackburn with Darwen Council would also like to take the opportunity of Carers Week 2020 to extend its thanks for all they do for our communities.
