Large fire in Blackburn

Blackburn with Darwen Council is working with both Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the Environment Agency after a fire has broken out near Blackburn Town Centre.

The fire involves a commercial building in Paterson Street.

One family has been evacuated to a local Community Centre and other residents in the area have been advised to stay indoors and close windows and doors.

A number of street closures are in place from Canal Bridge on Highfield Road up to Mosley Street, all of Paterson Street as well as Durham Street and Swan Street. It’s also closed at the junction of Mosley Street and Robert Street.

People are being advised to stay away from the immediate area.

Anyone in the area experiencing breathing problems are advised to either see their GP or call 111.
