People with dementia, families and carers, are being invited to come and have a cuppa and take part in a project recognising that people living with dementia have valuable stories and a rich life experience to share.

Lancashire Not Forgotten is a collaborative project between Blackpool Council, Lancashire County Council and Blackburn with Darwen Council and aims to empower the individual and to help us all to better understand the areas in which we live.

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, it sees reminiscence sessions being run with people with dementia, families and carers, along three themes – live, work and play.

Blackburn with Darwen’s theme, ‘how we used to live’, sees participants encouraged to handle household objects from the past, look at old photos and chat over a cuppa.

The aim is to unlock memories for recording and sharing which will be made into public artworks by artists working in film and digital art.

Their will also be a website created that will include some of the memories captured and a collection of heritage trails.
