Blackburn with Darwen Council is delivering employment support in the local community with a special launch event for its Job Clubs.

The event will take place at Little Harwood Community Centre on Tuesday, 7th February, between 1pm and 3pm, refreshments will be available. Anyone is welcome to attend.

As part of the MPT Steps Job Club, anyone aged over 16 can get support with:

  • Creating and updating CVs
  • Completing online applications
  • Registering with job websites
  • Developing your confidence with interviews
  • Getting the latest job vacancies

Launched in January 2022 and made possible with £4.75m funding from European Social Fund, MPT Steps provides free tailored one to one support and mentoring to people struggling to enter work, to boost their confidence, skills, health and wellbeing.

The partnership is led by Active Lancashire (and partners), to deliver the programme across Lancashire.

Residents supported by the project have given positive feedback for the support they have received:

“Through the one-to-one mentoring support and encouragement I have received, I now realise I am not ‘useless’ and can achieve my goals” – Zaynab.

“The customer service course I did helped me massively to get a job working for the big food company I work for now” – Heather
