Be inspired by the Tour de France

People across Blackburn and Darwen are invited to get into the Tour de France spirit by taking part in free guided bike rides.

It’s never been a better time to think about cycling as the Tour de France returns to the UK for three stages, and yellow fever grips the nation.

Now you can do more than just watch the events – be inspired and get involved with Sky Ride Local with rides taking place across the borough.

The Tour de France, steeped in tradition and prestige, is one of the most eagerly awaited cycling events on the annual sporting calendar. Over three weeks of gruelling racing, the world’s best riders will compete for the coveted yellow jersey. If Le Tour has inspired you to dust off your bike and go for a ride, British Cycling in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council is running a series of free bike rides to get you pedalling this summer.

With Sky Ride Local all the planning has been done for you. British Cycling has found the best routes, trained up friendly Ride Leaders to guide and support you, and picked some cracking places to visit along the way. And with three different levels on offer, you certainly don’t need to be a pro rider to take part! There’s something for everyone – whether you’re building your confidence or looking to stretch your legs on a cycling challenge.

If you take part in two or more Sky Ride Local rides between 28 June and 3 August and you can grab yourself some cool British Cycling gifts, including water bottles, neck Buffs and the chance to win a VIP cycling experience to the Tour of Britain this September.

So, if the return of the Tour de France to British soil has inspired you to get cycling, just visit goskyride.com, find a ride near you and book your free place. It couldn’t be simpler to get on your bike and ride.
