Blackburn with Darwen’s SEND services are the focus on an inspection by Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – and young people, their parents and carers are invited to share their views.
The inspection of education, health and care services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Blackburn with Darwen will take place over the next three weeks.
A key part of the area SEND inspection is to gather the views of children and young people themselves, plus their parents and carers, as well as the professionals who support them.
There are four different surveys you can use to share your views on SEND services in Blackburn with Darwen:
- Complete the children and young people survey – for 11 to 25 year olds with SEND
- Complete the parent and carer survey – for parents with children with SEND under the age of 25 years
- Complete the parent and carer survey – Easy Read version
- Complete the practitioner survey
These surveys are open until 9am on Tuesday 2 December.
Councillor Julie Gunn, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Education, said:
Following on from the wider Ofsted inspection of Children’s Services earlier this year, we have been preparing for this inspection of our SEND services.
It’s important to us that every child and young person in the borough has the opportunities to fulfil their potential, and this inspection will help us to showcase the strength of support we offer to those with additional needs.
We’re keen for the inspectors to hear the voices of our children and young people themselves, as well as their parents and carers. I’d urge everyone to take the opportunity to share their views on our SEND services before the deadline of 2 December.
What you share through the survey will help the inspectors to understand what is working well and what could be better.
