A visit to the children’s ward at Royal Blackburn Hospital to give out gifts to young people brought the Christmas spirit with some special guests.

The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen Cllr Alan Cottam and several children’s characters talked to the young people and their parents, giving out advent calendars and other Christmas treats.

The children joined in with a sing-along and played games as well as receiving their early Christmas presents.

Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Cllr Alan Cottam, said:

It was great to be able to visit these children and give them some gifts as we approach the Christmas period.

“It was a pleasure to meet the young people, parents, and staff at the hospital and wish them all the best for the festive period and beyond.
