Help people to look after their pounds and pennies

A Blackburn charity needs your vote so it can help people to learn vital money skills.

Inter Madrassah Organisation (IMO) is one of 17 groups in the North of England which are bidding for funding from the NatWest Skills and Opportunities Fund.

If successful, IMO would employ staff to deliver Pounds and Pence workshops over 18 months to 120 black and ethnic minority women across Blackburn.

Ann Hedley, Business Development Manager at IMO, said:

The workshops will help people to understand and manage their money better, how to get out of debt and how to budget and spend wisely.

To many people these skills are second nature but if you don’t have them life can be very difficult and the challenges may seem too great to cope with.

The advice, information and guidance will be culturally sensitive and our staff speak a variety of languages which will make this less stressful for some of the ladies.

The NatWest Skills and Opportunities Fund is making £1 million available in 2018 for financial and enterprise projects which help people to help themselves.

Grants of up to £35,000 are available and the winning projects will be chosen by public vote which closes at noon on April 20.
