Six new surveys have been released to find out residents’ views on various highway and transport services, from the condition of roads and footpaths; to the quality of cycling facilities.
The National Highways and Transport Surveys are released every year across local authorities in England and Scotland, including Blackburn with Darwen. This year the six surveys will ask questions to residents on the following topics:
- Accessibility
- Walking & Cycling
- Public Transport
- Road Safety
- Tackling Congestion
- Highway Maintenance
By responding to these surveys, residents can help inform our teams where they should be making changes in the borough. As the surveys take place annually, we can also compare the results from previous years to identify any positive and negative trends, taking action to improve results.
Residents across the country will be taking part in the survey, which allows us to benchmark our results against other local authorities and learn useful information from them.
Councillor Quesir Mahmood, Executive Member for Growth and Development and Deputy Leader for the council said:
It’s incredibly important for us to hear your opinions to allow us to consider them when making key decisions around highway improvements.
With new government funding announced recently to help improve our highway infrastructure, by responding to these surveys, we can understand where residents believe the improvements are needed to help benefit their daily lives when travelling around the borough.
We look forward to receiving a high level of responses to all surveys.
The questionnaire will be sent to a minimum random sample of at least 3300 of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council’s residents by post, however all residents can take part by visiting our website.
You will remain anonymous by taking the survey online. The closing date is Tuesday 30 September.
