The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen hopes everyone taking part in this week’s Eid has a happy celebration.

Thursday is the second and final Eid celebration of the year. It commemorates the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage. Although only pilgrims in Mecca participate in the Hajj fully, Muslims around the world join them in celebrating Eid Al-Adha.

The Mayor, Councillor Faryad Hussain, said:  “I hope everyone has a Happy Eid this week and I want to send warm wishes to everyone celebrating on Thursday.”

The Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council echoed the Mayor’s comments. Councillor Mohammed Khan said: “I hope everyone celebrating has a Happy and safe Eid. I too wish to send my best wishes to everyone celebrating on Thursday and also my best wishes to everyone in the borough, whether they have a faith or not, as Eid is a time to think about friends, families and the wider community.”
