We are particularly pleased that Government have announced new measures for child care.

Informal childcare will be exempt from the new restrictions that came into force on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

Many of our residents had been in touch asking whether grandparents, family and friends could still pick up children from school and help with childcare?

Concerns were raised after the Government announced a ban on all residents across our borough from mixing with people they don’t live with.

However on Monday, September 21, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock announced the new exemption for looking after children under the age of 14 or vulnerable adults where it is necessary for caring purposes.

It covers both formal and informal arrangements. It does not allow for play dates or parties but it does mean a consistent childcare relationship that is vital for somebody to get to work is allowed.
