One of Blackburn with Darwen Council’s key health partners, NHS Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group, is currently seeking the public’s views on proposed changes to some prescriptions.
The CCG is proposing to stop prescribing treatments and medicines for short-term, minor conditions – or where there is not enough evidence that they improve symptoms or where value for money is not being provided.
Many of these medicines are widely available over the counter in pharmacies or shops for self-care at a low cost price, or for cheaper than an NHS prescription.
£663,042 a year is currently spent on prescriptions for such items.
If you would like a chance to comment on these proposed changes, the CCG is inviting people to fill out this questionnaire.
Everybody that does so will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win some leisure vouchers.
