The Council is looking at new and more convenient ways of letting you know what we are doing and keeping you up to date with developments in our services.
We are piloting a new digital system which allows you to sign up for news, information and articles that interest you.
The information is then delivered to you in the way you want it such as text message, Twitter and Facebook.
The new system will be piloted with news updates from the Shuttle website. You can sign up for news topics that you want to hear about from news story pages or sign up for all the news updates.
If it proves successful, Council departments will roll out the system so you can sign up for specific service updates.
The pilot is part of the Council’s drive to get more services online which many people have told us they prefer as it is more convenient. It will also save money.
Councillor Andy Kay, Executive Member for Resources, said:
We are responding to what people want. We are bringing giving information straight to residents rather than residents spending time looking for it themselves. People can pick and choose what they want to hear about from the Council. It gives people greater choice and it saves the council money.
“For example, people may only want to hear about what is going on in the environment department. This system will allow them to tick for updates just from the area they want, cutting down on shifting through lots of information to find what they want.
