Get That Job recruitment event hailed as a ‘resounding success’

Hundreds of people took part in a three-day jobs fair held at King George’s Hall and were able to gain support by employment professionals to enhance their career.

Those who attended the Get That Job recruitment event made it a huge success and job seekers had the chance to participate in workshops as well as make applications for roles with local employers.

The Mayor of the Blackburn with Darwen also attended the event alongside Chief Executive, Denise Park and The Leader of the Council, Cllr Phil Riley and Deputy Leader, Cllr Quesir Mahmood.

Along with a dedicated workforce and collaboration between local employers the event was hailed a ‘resounding success’.

Hilary Jenkins-Beard, Skills and Quality Manager at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, said:

We considered the possible barriers to work and identified the teams that can help remove these to enable people to get into employment. People came looking for the support they needed and we certainly delivered on that. We were able to direct people to local vacancies, application support and learning opportunities.

The event was supported by Blackburn with Darwen Council with day one offering people the chance to Get Job Ready, Day two was a retail and hospitality jobs fair and day three was a day for Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council opportunities.

The success of these recruitment events would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of our partner agencies. Thanks to the dedicated staff from the area who were able to equip job-seekers with the tools they needed to stand out in the competitive job market.  Well done to everyone involved as their commitment to empowering residents and strengthening the workforce across the Borough is truly commendable.
