Blackburn with Darwen Employment Skills and Support Hub are hosting a Jobs and Skills Fair to give people the opportunity to find a new career, get back into work, volunteer or get learning again.
The fair will take place between 10am and 3pm on Wednesday, 28th February at King George’s Hall in Blackburn. Approximately 500 attendees are expected at the event, which is open to members of the public and Job Centre customers.
There will be a large range of stalls from businesses and organisations ranging across the public, private and voluntary sectors – with local employers being at the forefront.
These will include education, construction, hospitality, social care, engineering, marketing and much more.
Some of the firms and organisations at the event include: Blackburn Youth Zone, The Mall, Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, Bracebridge Care Group, Transdev, Utilita, Reel Cinema, Blackburn College, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and much more.
Multi-national electronics company Ricoh will also be at the event holding mock interviews and helping people brush up on their interview and job finding skills.
People attending will get the chance to talk to a range of organisations and apply for live vacancies with the 1:1 support available at the event.
Councillor Quesir Mahmood, Executive Member for Growth and Development, said:
Attending the Jobs fair offers the unique opportunity to meet employers face-to-face and receive support in completing applications for job vacancies.
Whether you’re seeking employment, education, or training opportunities, this event is unmissable.
With everything in one place and more options than last year, there’s a lot to look forward to regarding employment opportunities.”
Building on your skills and further learning for all are also a big theme of the event, through the Employment Skills and Support Hub. This includes advice and support for anyone who may want a career change and would like to find training, volunteering opportunities or education on their new career paths.
