Do you want to work on your numeracy skills and have some fun?

If you’d like to talk about your maths skills, need help with budgeting, improve how you work with numbers in everyday life, or you just fancy some fun then the Multiply Games Fest is for you.

Following the success of the Multiply initiative Games Fest last year held at King George’s Hall the scheme is once again returning to the borough to help adults improve their numeracy skills.

Games Play your cards right

Multiply is a government-funded programme aimed at adults aged 19 and over who don’t have a maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent).

The Games Fest offers free numeracy courses to help build confidence with numbers and there will be information on how you can potentially gain a numeracy qualification.

Councillor Mustafa Desai, Executive Member for Adults Social Care and Health, said:

It’s great to know that the last Games Festival left a positive impact on the people who took part and I welcome the next one.

This free course will help our residents improve skills that are needed for their daily life as well as improving their opportunities within employment as people who improve their numeracy skills are more likely to be in employment, have higher wages, and better wellbeing.

Around 17 million adults in England – half of the working-age population – have the numeracy skills of primary school children. Poor numeracy skills can hold people back from having the confidence to get on in life and into work.

At the event at Darwen Leisure Centre, there will be a range of games including ‘Play Your Cards Right’, darts and puzzles with free refreshments and lots of goodies to collect.

Join in the fun on Wednesday 1st February between 10am and 2pm with games, money talks and is free to attend.

There’s no need to book and you can just turn up on the day.
