A collection of vintage vehicles will be rolling into Blackburn next month as Steam Sunday returns for the second year-running.
Onlookers can catch a glimpse of seven steam vehicles travelling along the A666 from Darwen to Blackburn on Sunday, 9th October as part of the Steam Sunday event.
The steam engines, which have been organised by a team of local craftsmen from specialist business Heritage Painting and funded by the Blackburn Business Improvement District, depart from Watery Lane Industrial Estate at 10.20am.
Each of the vintage vehicles will be situated outside Blackburn Town Hall between 12pm and 4pm.
Ian Hewitt, founder of Heritage Painting, said:
We were delighted with the positive response we received after last year’s event which saw hundreds of people gather in the town centre. It isn’t an everyday occurrence to see a convoy of vintage steam engines travelling to Blackburn, so it’s a great chance for enthusiasts to share their passion.”
Manager of the Blackburn BID, Harriet Roberts, is hoping for another successful event, she said:
The engines proved a massive hit last year and the turnout on the day was second-to-none. There’s still a lot of interest in steam engines and we think people will love to experience them up close.”
