The Gas Safe Charity is delivering a free carbon monoxide awareness workshop at Blackburn Central Library on 1st May 2018, 10am – 1pm.

The workshop is open to staff from organisations that deliver services in the homes of vulnerable people. After the workshop attendees will be given a free set of training materials which can be used to introduce carbon monoxide awareness to their organisations.

Exposure to even low levels of carbon monoxide in someone’s home has been linked to various health risks including a greater risk of falling, and early signs of dementia.

Care Network’s Healthy Homes project can also give advice and support to help residents in the borough achieve a warm, safe, hazard free and energy efficient home. The team can visit people at home to identify potential hazards and provide advice on home security and mobility around the home.

The Healthy Homes service is free and offered to Blackburn with Darwen residents who are over 65 years old, live with long term health conditions or have a child under the age of 5.
