Flying Scotsman and the Golden Steam of Steam – an evening at Darwen Library Theatre this September celebrating the achievements of the people who rescued steam railways.

Is there a finer sight than the grace and power of a huge steam locomotive on the move?

The award-winning television programme maker, David Parker, spent 12 months filming the rebuilding of perhaps the most famous of them all, Flying Scotsman.

In this illustrated talk David will show clips from programmes he has made about both Flying Scotsman and steam railways in Britain.

The event will be a celebration of the men and women who saved some of the country’s most picturesque branch lines and the steam engines that run on them.

We’ll hear their incredible stories and see glorious and rare film of the steam engines, including Flying Scotsman, they rebuilt.
