Children from across Blackburn with Darwen have been getting creative in a bid to have their design used for the Mayor’s Christmas card.
Mayor, Councillor Iftakhar Hussain, launched the competition and received more than 50 entries from young people across the borough.
Laiba Hoddekar, from St Stephens C Of E Primary School, Little Harwood, won the competition with her festive scene featuring a fantastic drawing of Santa in his sleigh!
Laiba’s image will feature on the card which will be sent out to community groups, schools and nursing homes in Blackburn and Darwen.
Runners-up were Elsie Blake-Hughes and Hafsah Adam, both from Westholme School, Blackburn.
Councillor Iftakhar Hussain, Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, said:
Congratulations to Laiba on her winning design!
I’m sure it will bring joy to many during this festive season after such a difficult year.
I would like to thank all the budding young artists who submitted a design – you all did a fantastic job.
I wish you all the best and hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
