Volunteers across Blackburn with Darwen are invited to join a special celebration of their contributions during Volunteers Week.
On Wednesday 4 June, volunteers will be celebrated at The Big Thank You, a drop-in event outside Blackburn Town Hall.
Volunteers can come along any time between 10am and 2pm to find out about support available to them in their volunteering roles, and enjoy a brew and a biscuit.
They will also have the chance to collect certificates in recognition of what they do for others in the borough.
Councillor Phil Riley, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:
In Blackburn with Darwen we’re lucky to have hundreds – if not thousands – of people from diverse backgrounds who each give their time, talents and kindness to help others and to make the borough a better place. Each one of them has helped to build a strong volunteering spirit here that really does make a positive difference to our local communities.
Without their contributions, our borough would be much poorer, so it is right that we celebrate them for all that they do during Volunteers Week.
The event has been organised by Blackburn with Darwen Council working in partnership with Lancashire Volunteer Partnership, Community CVS and Chip-In.
LVP, Community CVS and Chip-In jointly commented:
As a collective, Community CVS, Chip-In and LVP want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of Blackburn with Darwen volunteers past, present and future. We’d love to say thank you in person and meet some of our inspiring volunteers, so please pop down to The Big Thank You for a brew and a biscuit on us on Wednesday 4 June.
The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Councillor Jacquie Slater, together with the Council Leader and Chief Executive will be at The Big Thank You event to share their thanks to local volunteers.
