Next week a meeting is taking place in Blackburn for those who would like to volunteer in the event of an emergency in our community.
Blackburn with Darwen borough council Civil Contingencies team are looking for enthusiastic individuals, ideally aged over 18, who live in either Blackburn or Darwen to help with planning for and responding to emergencies.
Having an emergency volunteer group allows us as a borough to be more resilient so that we are less reliant on responders and services in an emergency. The group is called the Community Emergency Response Volunteers.
Tuesday 17 September, an event is being held at Blackburn Central Library for both existing volunteers and anyone who may think they wish to become a member.
The event will provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about volunteering as part of a team, to make sure that vulnerable people are supported in a crisis and that communities have the right information.
No experience necessary, just a willingness to help others.
To read more about the event, you can visit the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership website. Tickets are sold out however everyone and anyone are still welcome to attend.
