Eid greetings from the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen

The Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Coun Parwaiz Akhtar, has recorded a video message to share Eid greetings with everyone who’ll be celebrating this week.

Eid ul Fitr, one of two major holidays celebrated by Muslims around the world, marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In his video message, the Mayor says:

Eid is a special occasion for me and so many of our residents. But before we get to celebrate, we of course observe the holy month of Ramadan.

As always so many in our community not only enjoy Iftaar together in the evenings but have also contributed by hosting Iftaars for the needy and also invited non muslim friends to participate with us.

It’s these moments of togetherness that makes me proud to be part of the community in Blackburn with Darwen.”
