A special award was given to five-year-old Eddie Carr for a giant litter pick in Darwen.
The pupil at Ashleigh Primary School in Darwen joined Councillors David and Karimeh Foster in a two-hour clean-up around Darwen. He volunteered after noticing litter in the area.
Eddie was presented with a surprise award from the Mayor of Blackburn, Councillor Hussain Ahktar, during an assembly at his school, along with his mum Janet and Dad Brian.
Councillor Mohammed Khan, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:
It was wonderful news to hear of Eddie working so hard to make his community a better place. At just five years old he is a credit to his family, his school and his community and I know his family and friends are very proud of him.
He thoroughly deserves this special award and he really embodies the Your Call ethos. I hope other young people follow his lead and help make a positive difference to their areas and show people what can be done.”
