Don’t take a chance with flyposting

Businesses are being reminded that it is illegal to fly post on public property.

Blackburn with Darwen Council is advising traders and business owners that it is an offence to display advertisements or hoardings on public property including lamp posts, fences, roundabouts, safety railings or buildings.

Regulations including the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 prohibit illegal flyposting that clutters up the street furniture and can be a distraction to motorists.

As a result advertisements or hoardings that contravene regulations and do not have permission are likely to be removed.
