Darwen is hosting what will be a weekend to remember packed with music, exhibitions and live talks.

The buzz of excitement in the town is building as Darwen Live, the biggest free music festival returns this year after being postponed due to Covid.

Darwen Live takes place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd October and main stage is at Darwen Market Square. Further stages can be found at Darwen Library theatre and in bars around town. For the full line up visit: www.darwen.live.

Darwen is honoured to be hosting the CP Clothing company CINQUANTA exhibition in the Market basement.

CINQUANTA is taking place from Friday 1st to Sunday 10th October, and will be open 12pm – 8pm each day. Admission is free, but donations to Nightsafe youth homelessness charity are very welcome and much appreciated. We encourage you to book as soon as possible via Eventbrite: www.eventbrite.com/o/cp-company-34752022143.

As part of this ‘project youth’ displaying iconic images will also take place. You can read more here:

Councillor Phil Riley, Executive Member for Growth, said:

These high profile events have taken a huge amount of organising and I sincerely want to thank everyone involved in making them happen.

Darwen Live is well established as a focal point for music across the North West and beyond and it is good to have it back.

He went on to say:

The CP Clothing Company exhibition is brilliant to have taking place here too. As a major component of the British textile industry and the birthplace of professional football, it feels fitting that this exciting event is taking place in Darwen, and we can’t wait to welcome visitors.

Darwen Market will be open on Saturday as usual at 8am.

Darwen Live starts at 1pm, so come down early if you want to get your shopping done before the event begins!  There will be free face painting and glitter tattoos inside Darwen Market to help people get music festival ready.

The market will be open until 4pm, so you can pop to one of our cafes, get some takeaway food whilst enjoying Darwen Live, or do your shopping in the afternoon as normal too!

Please be aware that if you wish to access Darwen Market Square from the market once the event begins, security checks, such as bag searches, will be in place. This is to keep everyone safe. All market doors are planned to be open as normal.

To gain entry to the CP Clothing exhibition, CINQUANTA, either enter from the top market car park and continue down the stairs or enter through the Market Annexe entrance from Darwen Market Square and turn left.

To facilitate the events over the weekend, the bus station will be temporarily closed and buses will stop on Market Street.

The events are set to bring locals and visitors from all over the world to Darwen for this unforgettable weekend of activity. Please shop locally and support local businesses, whilst enjoying the weekend safely!
