Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer finalists in the ITV Britain’s Got Talent show have been announced as star guests taking part in a special sci-fi themed Christmas light switch on and dance show in Blackburn.
Boogie Storm who came second in the TV talent show this year will be performing on stage on King William Street as part of the annual Christmas light up ceremony on Saturday 26 November, which will include local dance schools, compered by Rock FM breakfast hosts, Steve and Janine.
On the same day, sci-fi fans, visitors and shoppers will also be able to visit the Blackburn Comic Convention at King Georges Hall which will include an autograph signing session with actor, David Prouse who played Darth Vader in the Star Wars films. Other attractions at the ticketed event at King George’s Hall will be a rare appearance by actor, Tim Proctor from Walking Dead, the Games of Thrones throne, a Tardis and the Dr Who’s fifth time lord, actor Peter Davison.
Free exhibits around the town that day will include meet and greets with Boogie Storm and other costumed characters in Blackburn Market and The Mall. There will also be a Batmobile from the Batman Movie, and the Ghostbusters vehicle and Staypuft marshmallow man on Ainsworth Street alongside the bus station.
There is an appeal for dancers to join in with the dance element of the show which is being coordinated by Graham Vernon at DAPA, Eanam Wharf. Graham explains, ‘We’re looking for dance organisations, schools and groups of all ages and dance styles to be part of this great civic, festive event. Each dance troupe will enjoy a VIP experience meeting the stars of the show behind the scenes in the town hall before taking part on stage and in our synchronised grand finale.’
The event, organised by Blackburn BID in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council, is part of packed programme of seasonal events taking place across the town centre in November and December to include a Christmas street fair, traditional carol concert at Blackburn Cathedral and the traditional annual lantern parade, fireworks and community procession.
