Councillor Phil Riley, Executive Member for Regeneration and senior deputy leader of the Council, and Deputy Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen Councillor Hussain Akhtar, were invited to help open the revamped McDonald’s in Blackburn town centre.

The restaurant has been given a high-tech makeover to feature new self-service kiosks, digital menu boards and tablet computers as well as improving the look of the shop front and interior. The upgrade will create new jobs.

Councillor Riley and the deputy mayor were shown around by staff and franchisee David Duncan.

Councillor Riley said:

I was delighted to help open the revamped Blackburn store. This big investment is a great show of confidence in our town centre and I understand it will help create several jobs. McDonald’s staff have also done a lot in the community and have taken part in several Your Call activities. I want to thank them for the good work they do – they are a great example to other  businesses in the borough.”
