Blackburn with Darwen Council are supporting The Making Room’s new Kickstarter, which combines coding and NASA planetary position data to create unique keepsakes.
The solarDates project launched this week on Kickstarter and offers personalised pendants, coasters, and wall hangings that show where the planets were on a particular date.
The project ends on Thursday, October 31 so there is a limited time to order the personalised pieces.
Cllr Andy Kay, Executive Member for Finance and Governance, said:
Our Making Rooms and Fab Lab provides a digital manufacturing facility right in the heart of the town centre making it accessible to all. The solar alignment project is just one example of providing exciting opportunities for people of all ages to learn new skills, develop ingenious ideas and manufacture beautiful products by supporting local entrepreneurship with the very latest technology.
Cllr Phil Riley, Executive Member for Growth and Development, said:
It’s such a creative concept to produce a unique gift that recognises the alignment of the planets on a specific and meaningful date. The kickstarter was only launched this week yet it has already been well received as people are often looking for new, creative and personalised gift ideas, and even better that this has been launched in time for Christmas.
The Making Rooms is a small not-for-profit Community Interest Company whose mission is to inspire people to become makers, and makers to become entrepreneurs. They opened their doors in 2016 and have since seen thousands of visitors.
Help support The Making Rooms and choose your perfect cosmic gift on their Kickstarter. Donations are also welcome.
