Council statement

Blackburn with Darwen Council has issued a response in relation to a Lancs Live story dated April 6.

David Fairclough, Director of HR, Governance and Engagement, said:

The two areas noted in the latest report to the audit and governance committee under ’other investigations’ are standard updates investigated as a routine matter of course and are completely separate and unrelated.

The first matter relates to a suspected social care benefit fraud that has been referred to the Police.

The second matter relates to a review into concerns raised around compliance in a small service contract and is being looked into as a matter of course.
