Council services re-opened – end of lockdown

Many Council services have now re-opened as the national lockdown ends.

Blackburn with Darwen has been placed under Tier 3 restrictions by the Government which means that while many shops and businesses will be able to re-open, certain areas, such as hospitality and other indoor activities, will remain closed for now.

Tiers will be reviewed every 14 days, starting on 16 December.

Services re-opening on Wednesday 2nd December 2020

The following public services will remain open:

  • NHS and medical services including dentists
  • Jobcentre Plus sites
  • Courts and probation services
  • Services provided to victims

Services closed:

  • Community centres. Some vulnerable groups can continue to access services and those groups have been notified directly. We are awaiting further government guidance on reopening after 2nd December 2020. Please check back for updates.
  • Blackburn Museum is closed. On-line exhibitions and the museum’s digital contents are available here Blackburn Museum
  • King George’s Hall and Darwen Library Theatre are closed. You can view the 2021 programme and buy tickets at BwD Venues
  • Cemeteries and crematoria are closed to the public except for funerals and commemorative services, and to allow a person to pay their respects to a member of their household, a family member or friend.
