Council services affected by Tier 4 restrictions

The Tier 4 restrictions for Blackburn with Darwen have an impact on some Council services.

Here’s a round-up of the services that remain open:

Blackburn Central Library and Darwen Library are open for Call & Collect service only – find out more about Call & Collect and to request books call 01254 661221

Blackburn Library also offers limited computer access for anyone who struggles to access digital services from home – book in advance by calling 01254 661221

Blackburn and Darwen Market Halls are open for essential goods only – food stalls, takeaways and newsagents – and most essential traders are offering home deliveries. Visit the market websites for more information: www.blackburnmarket.com and www.darwentowncentre.co.uk/market

Cemeteries remain open for only burials and paying respects at the graveside, with no changes to opening hours – 8am to 6pm. Pleasington Crematoria is closed except for cremations.

You can continue to register births, deaths and notice of marriages through our Registration Services – to make an appointment, call 01254 588660.

Children’s Centres have remained open during the pandemic for childcare and nursery provision, and this will continue. They are also available for advice, support and guidance.

Household Waste Recycling Centres in Blackburn and Darwen remain open – please book a slot in advance at https://blackburn.gov.uk/waste-and-recycling/household-waste-recycling-centres

Building Control services remain open with COVID-19 secure measures in place for site inspections. Some non-essential site inspections are now postponed until restrictions are lifted.  For site inspection enquiries, call 0300 303 5354.

Our Davyfield Road depot remains open for taxi testing and MOTs

 

These services are temporarily closed from Thursday 31 December:

Blackburn Town Hall, Darwen Town Hall and Duke Street are all closed to the public – use our website www.blackburn.gov.uk and if you can’t find the information you need, contact our Customer Services on 01254 585585.

All libraries are closed except for Call & Collect books and Public IT access – see above for contact details

Witton Park Arena, Darwen Leisure Centre and Blackburn Sports & Leisure Centre – check online leisure services info at https://bwdleisure.com/

King George’s Hall and Darwen Library Theatre – view the 2021 programme and buy tickets at https://bwdvenues.com/

Community centres are closed – we have already notified those vulnerable groups that can continue to access services at these venues.
