Joint statement on behalf of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council:
We are saddened to hear of the death of Lord Patel of Blackburn.
He was a prominent figurehead who made great contributions over the years to our communities.
Having served as President of Lancashire Council of Mosques and Vice-President of the Blackburn Community Relations Council, he was a great advocate for what mattered to the people and worked tirelessly to promote community cohesion.
The funeral is being attended by the Council Leader, Cllr Mohammed Khan and other Council representatives.
We will be in touch with Lord Patel’s family to acknowledge the contributions that he has made over the decades.
He leaves a great legacy that his family can be very proud of. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this very sad time.
