Council leads support for Mental Health Awareness Week

Over the past month we’ve been coming together apart to support mental health during the coronavirus crisis.

A Blackburn with Darwen Council-led social media campaign has highlighted various support services aimed at the whole population of Blackburn with Darwen from children and young people to adults and older people.

And we’re taking the opportunity of Mental Health Awareness Week this week to continue that important work.

Keep an eye on Blackburn with Darwen Council’s social media channels Twitter  / Facebook as the campaign rolls out over the week.

Available support being highlighted will include national services like Big White Wall, Samaritans, Every Mind Matters and CALM as well as the wider wellbeing offer available via the Council such as the Wellbeing Service and BwD Time to Change hub.

Coronavirus has changed lives across the world in ways that were unimaginable just a few weeks ago.

We appreciate what a deeply worrying time this is for everyone and the extra stress we’re all under can have a negative impact on mental health and wellbeing.

Good mental health and wellbeing is vitally important for all of us and especially at this testing time.

Councillor Damian Talbot, Executive Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said:

We know how incredibly difficult the current situation has been for everyone and good mental health and wellbeing is vitally important as we continue these lockdown conditions.

Our mental health campaign has been very well received and Mental Health Awareness Week is a perfect opportunity to continue the good work. This means helping raise awareness of, and signposting people to, a range of brilliant services that are available to support people’s mental health and wellbeing at this time.
