Council leader Mohammed Khan has welcomed the launch of this year’s leader’s award.
The Mohammed Khan Leader’s Award will acknowledge and reward an individual or an organisation that has promoted community cohesion through leadership in Blackburn and Darwen.
Blackburn with Darwen Council Leader Mohammed Khan said;
I am honoured and humbled that this award has been named after me for a fourth year running. More importantly though is what the award represents – celebrating leaders in our community who bring people together and make Blackburn with Darwen a better place to live, work and visit.
Last year’s winner Stuart Parker who has been instrumental in development of the promotion of the scouting movement in hard to reach areas of Blackburn with Darwen said;
It’s a massive privilege have won this award, which reflects the efforts of all the fantastic volunteers from Blackburn District Scouts who work tirelessly to help young people experience adventures of a lifetime.
We have made great strides in ensuring scouting in Blackburn is as diverse as the community it serves and it’s wonderful to see all our groups working together week in week out. I look forward to continuing to dedicate my time to help grow Scouting within the wide range of communities in our town.
Nominations can be made via the One Voice website, closing date for nominations is January 21 2019.
The winner will be chosen by Councillor Mohammed Khan with the One Voice Blackburn Directors and will be announced at the One Voice Annual Dinner, which takes place in February 2019.
