Council congratulations for award-winning Darwen GP practice

Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Director of Public Health has expressed his delight at the news that Darwen Healthcare has scooped two prestigious awards.

The Darwen-based GP practice picked up both GP Team of the Year and Practice Nursing Award 2019 at the General Practice Awards, held in London on November 29.

The General Practice Awards are designed to recognise, highlight and reward the hard work and innovation that gets carried out every day in surgeries throughout the UK.

Darwen Healthcare is part of the recently formed Darwen Primary Care Neighbourhood. Blackburn with Darwen Council is working with the borough’s Clinical Commissioning Group, GP Federation, Health Trusts and Community and Voluntary Organisations to integrate services via these new PCNs.

Work involves doctors, nurses, GP practice staff, social care staff, community reps and other professionals collaborating more closely together to help people stay well and get the care they need closer to their home.

I’m delighted that a local GP practice working as part of the Darwen PCN has picked up not only one but two of these highly sought after awards. Practice staff have proven their will to go above and beyond to provide the very best for their patients. This is great news for the borough and my congratulations to all involved.

It was an amazing night!! I was so shocked and delighted at the same time couldn’t sleep that night!! Every single person; ranging from GP partners, GPs, trainees, advanced nurse practitioners, physician associates, paramedic and clinical pharmacist, practice nurses, assistant practitioner, healthcare assistants, administration and reception staff at Darwen Healthcare have all worked very hard and their dedication and hard work has paid off.
