Blackburn with Darwen Council will mark St George’s Day with a very special message on its digital advertising screens.

April the 23rd belongs to the patron saint of England, St George (Although Shakespeare on his 459th birthday will have something to say about that). And it is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything typically English, from putting the kettle on in a crisis, TV cooking shows, and of course talking about the weather!

We will be wishing the borough a happy Saint George’s Day with a message on the Council’s town hall screen, Larkhill screen, and bus totems.

Chief Executive of the Council Denise Park said:

St George’s Day is a time when people come together to celebrate everything we love about our fabulous country.

I believe it is important we do celebrate this day and everything we cherish about England. It would be wonderful to see people wearing the colours related to St George’s Day, and on behalf of the Council we wish everyone a wonderful day.’

The borough’s Mayor, Councillor Suleman Khonat, said:

I want to wish everyone in the borough a Happy Saint George’s Day and that they spend it enjoying this wonderful occasion with their friends and loved ones.’
