Congratulations to all GCSE students in Blackburn with Darwen today

Students will be receiving their GCSE results today across Blackburn with Darwen.

We would like to congratulate every student collecting their results today.2021 has been another difficult year for all of our children and teenagers with many changes still in place because of the coronavirus pandemic including changes to exams and how the grades are decided.

Whatever your results today, don’t panic – there is a wide range of support available for everyone regardless of their exam results.

Cllr Julie Gunn, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Education, said:

All of us at the Council want to wish all of you our biggest congratulations and good luck for your results.

This year has been another challenging one, and the way you have all coped with the unprecedented changes has been brilliant. We hope you get what you were wishing for, and if you don’t, just remember that the road to where you’re going isn’t always as straightforward as you think.

So don’t be downhearted if your results aren’t what you were expecting, there is lots of support out there to help you. Well done to all of you from all of us.”

I would like to say a huge well done and congratulations to all of our students in Blackburn with Darwen who are collecting their GCSE results today.

This has been another difficult and challenging year for you all but I’m very proud of how all our young people have handled this situation. We know it’s been really hard at times and you have all done amazingly well.

I hope you are all pleased with your results, but if they are not quite what you hoped for, there is loads of help available out there and all the details of this are on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Today marks the end of one chapter of your lives and the start of another exciting one and I wish you all the very best of luck, whether you choose to continue into further education, apprenticeships or other training, or employment.

So, congratulations to every one of you, and here’s to the next steps in your exciting journeys.”

Support available

Locally in Blackburn with Darwen, the New Directions Careers Service are available to offer their support to both Year 11 and Year 13 students. They can be contacted for one to one impartial careers guidance, have all of the latest information on further study, training and employment, and can support with applications and CVs.
